GCCC Corpsmember and Crew Leader Position FAQ
What are the stipends for each position?
Corpsmembers earn a living stipend of $1,000 a month and an AmeriCorps Education Award of $1,250 upon completion of their term of service. Crew Leaders earn a living stipend of $1,200 a month and an AmeriCorps Education Award of $2,362.50 upon completion of their term of service.
Do you hire youth without experience in construction or natural resources project work?
Yes. Most of our Corpsmembers don't have these skills when they start but learn them while serving here. We look for people that are not afraid to work hard, get dirty and care about their community.
What are the deadlines for the applications to both positions?
The application deadline for both positions is rolling.
Can you fill out an application for both or just one?
Yes, you can submit an application for both positions. The applications are almost identical with the exception of the question “What do you hope to gain from serving as a Corpsmember/Crew Leader with GCCC?” so feel free to complete one application with separate answers for that question, and indicate your interest in both positions.
What city do the leaders and members live in?
The Crews will be camping and living throughout the Gulf Coast region, located in areas dependent on the location of their project assignments.
Will we be sharing rooms with other members?
Accommodations will vary. Crew Leaders and Corpsmembers will be living in group situations including tents or dorm-like housing depending on the project.
Is there a cafeteria or are we responsible for making/ buying our own food?
Crew Leaders and Corpsmembers will cook communally with food provided by GCCC.
